A curriculum repository for C-STEM education.
Welcome to the C-STEM Curriculum for Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic School (OLP). This folder contains the curriculum overviews for Kindergarten through 6th grade. The C-STEM program is designed to integrate Catholic teachings with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), creating a learning environment that fosters creativity, ethical responsibility, and problem-solving skills, all grounded in faith.
At Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic School, we follow a five-week rotation for our C-STEM program. Each grade group progresses through hands-on activities, exploring both STEM concepts and Catholic values.
If you would like to create your own C-STEM schedule, the C-STEM curriculum is flexible and allows for customization. You can adjust the sequence of lessons or the schedule to suit the needs of your classroom. For those outside of OLP or adapting for a different class, feel free to modify the schedule as follows:
Day | Grade | Lesson | Time |
---|---|---|---|
Monday | Grades 3-5 | Weekly C-STEM Lesson | 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM |
Tuesday | Kindergarten | Weekly C-STEM Lesson | 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM |
Wednesday | Grades 1-2 | Weekly C-STEM Lesson | 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM |
The C-STEM Curriculum is divided into three sections based on grade groups. Each curriculum overview provides a detailed outline of the topics covered in STEM, along with how Catholic values such as stewardship, ethical responsibility, and service to others are woven into each lesson.
The Kindergarten curriculum introduces young students to basic concepts in technology and engineering, focusing on hands-on activities that help them explore God’s creation. It emphasizes stewardship, creativity, and kindness, fostering early problem-solving skills.
The curriculum for Grades 1-3 builds on the foundational skills introduced in Kindergarten. It explores more complex concepts in technology and engineering, while continuing to emphasize faith-based values such as teamwork, ethical responsibility, and care for creation. Lessons are designed to engage students in hands-on activities, promoting inquiry and collaboration.
For Grades 4-6, the curriculum introduces advanced concepts in STEM, focusing on design thinking, innovation, and problem-solving. Students are encouraged to reflect on the ethical implications of technology and how they can use their skills to serve others and care for God’s creation. This curriculum prepares students for more challenging engineering and technology projects while maintaining a strong focus on Catholic teachings.
Each curriculum overview highlights how STEM topics are integrated with Catholic teachings, focusing on:
