Catholic Integration¶
Saint Connection¶
St. Francis of Assisi β Patron saint of ecology! He called the earth our "Sister" and cared for all creation.
Scripture¶
"The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it." β Genesis 2:15
Opening Prayer¶
Dear God, you created our beautiful Earth and asked us to take care of it. Help us be good stewards of your creation. Show us how to protect our planet. Amen.
Lesson Procedure¶
Opening Circle (5 minutes)¶
- Our Home β Show globe: "This is our homeβthe only Earth we have!"
- God's Gift β "God made Earth for us AND asked us to take care of it"
- Three R's:
- Reduce β Use less stuff
- Reuse β Use things again
- Recycle β Turn old things into new things
- St. Francis β Loved all of creation!
Main Activity: Eco-Engineering (19 minutes)¶
Part 1: Earth Challenges (4 minutes)
- Discussion: What problems does Earth face?
- Too much trash

Part 2: Eco-Design Project (13 minutes)
Option A: Reuse Creation

Create poster about taking care of Earth

Include tips: Turn off lights, recycle, use less plastic

- Closing Prayer β "God, help us take care of your beautiful creation. May we be good stewards of the Earth. Amen."
